அறிமுகம் - Introduction

அனைவருக்கும் வணக்கம்.

பொறுமையின் சிகரமாம் பூமா தேவி, தம் மக்கள், நல்வழியில் சென்று, உய்வதற்காக, தானே கோதையாக அவதரித்த நன்னாள். அவளை வாழ்த்தி வணங்குவோம்.

திருவாடிப் பூரத்து செகத்துதித்தாள் வாழியே
திருப்பாவை முப்பதும் செப்பினாள் வாழியே

பெரியாழ்வார் பெற்றெடுத்த பெண் பிள்ளை வாழியே
பெரும்புதூர் மாமுனிக்குப் பின்னானாள் வாழியே

ஒரு நூற்று நாற்பத்து மூன்று உரைத்தாள் வாழியே
உயர் அரங்கற்கே கண்ணி உகந்தளித்தாள் வாழியே

மருவாரும் திருமல்லி வள நாடி வாழியே
வண்புதுவை நகர்க் கோதை மலர்ப் பதங்கள் வாழியே.

"கோதைமொழி கோலமொழி" என்னும் தலைப்பில், ஆண்டாளின் திருப்பாவை மற்றும் நாச்சியார் திருமொழி பாடல்கள், ஒரு நாள் ஒரு பாடல் என்னும்படி, பாடல்கள் மற்றும் சுருக்கமான விளக்கங்களை இடலாம் என்றிருக்கிறேன். மிகவும் ஆழ்ந்து செல்லாமல், ஓரளவிற்குப் பதம் பிரித்து இடலாம் என நினைக்கிறேன். எனது நோக்கம், எல்லாரும் ஒருமுறையாவது, ஆண்டாளின் பாடல்களைப் படிக்க வேண்டும் என்பதே. என் புலமையைக் காட்டுவது அல்ல.

தமிழ் மற்றும் ஆங்கிலம் இரண்டிலும் இடலாம் என்றிருக்கிறேன். எப்போதும் போல உங்களது உற்சாகத்தை அளிக்க வேண்டுகிறேன். கூடி இருந்து குளிர்வோம் வாரீர்.

Long live the one who descended on Earth on Adi Puram day !
Long live the one who sang the thirty song of Thiruppavai !
Long live the daughter born to and brought up by Periazhvar !
Long live the sister of Perumbudur Muni, Ramanajua !
Long live the one who sang the one hundred and fourty three Nachiyar Thirumozhi Pasurams!
Long live the one who offered with joy her garlands to the lord of Srirangam !
Long live the maiden who was born in the fertile land of Thirumalli
Long live the lotus feet of kOthai of famed Puduvai nagar, Villiputtur !

I am planning to write on the topic "kOthai mozhi kOla mozhi" (language of andal is the most beautiful language) featuring, tiruppaavai and nachiyar thirumozhi verses. I will post one song per day, starting with tiruppaavai along with a short meaning. I don't go deep into the meanings, which are available in websites. My aim is to make everyone read and understand the basic meaning of the verses of Andal at least once. I am not writing to show my linguistic skills or knowledge. After all I am going to learn and experience along with you.

I will write in both English and Tamil, side by side for the convenience of the readers.
