கனைத்து இளம்கற்று எருமை கன்றுக்கு இரங்கி
நினைத்து முலைவழியே நின்று பால்சோர
நனைத்து இல்லம் சேறாக்கும் நற்செல்வன் தங்காய்
பனித்தலை வீழ நின் வாசல் கடைபற்றிச்
சினத்தினால் தென் இலங்கைக் கோமானைச் செற்ற
மனத்துக்கு இனியானைப் பாடவும் நீ வாய்திறவாய்
இனித்தான் எழுந்திராய் ஈதென்ன பேர் உறக்கம்
அனைத்து இல்லத்தாரும் அறிந்தேலோர் எம்பாவாய்.
இந்தப் பாடல், ஆயர்பாடியில் உள்ள பசுக்கள், எருமைகளின் ஆரோக்கியத்தைச் சொல்லுகிறது. அவற்றின் மடியில், பால் மிகுந்து காணப்படுகிறது. பால் நிறைய சுரப்பதால், அவற்றின் மடி பாரம் தாங்க முடியாமல், அவை கத்துகின்றன (கனைத்து என்ற சொல் இதனையே குறிக்கும்). எவரேனும் வந்து பாலைக் கறப்பார்களா? என்று காத்திருக்கின்றன. பசுவானது, தன் கன்று வந்து முட்டிக் குடித்தால், அதன் மடியில் பால் சுரக்கும். எருமையானது, தன் கன்று, தன்னிடம் வந்து பால் குடிக்கிறது என்று நினைத்தாலே பால் சுரக்கத் தொடங்கிவிடும். அதனைத் தான், "கனைத்து இளம்கற்று எருமை, கன்றுக்கு இரங்கி, நினைத்து முலை வழியே நின்று பால் சோர" என்னும் வரிகள் குறிப்பிடுகின்றன.
அந்தப் பால், குடங்களைத் தாண்டி வழிந்து, வீடு முழுவதிலும் ஓடுகிறது. இல்லத்தை நனைத்து சேறாக்குகிறது. அப்படிப்பட்ட கறவை இனங்களை மேய்க்கும் செல்வனின் தங்கையே என்று இப்பெண்ணை ஆண்டாள் அழைக்கிறாள்.
மார்கழி மாதம் ஆதலால், பனித்துளிகள் இவர்கள் தலை மீது விழுகின்றன. அதனையும் பொருட்படுத்தாது, இவர்கள், இந்தப் பெண்ணின் வீட்டின் முன் நின்றுகொண்டு அழைக்கின்றனர்.
"கோபத்தால், இலங்கையை ஆண்ட அரசன் இராவணனை வென்றவனும், மனத்திற்கு இனியவனுமான பெருமானின் பெருமைகளைப் பாட நீ வருவாய். இப்போதாவது எழுந்துக்கொள். எதற்காக இப்படி உறங்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறாய்? அக்கம் பக்கத்தில் உள்ளோர்கள் யாவரும் நீ உறங்குகிறாய் என்பதை அறிந்துக்கொண்டு விட்டனர். சீக்கிரம் வா" என்று பாடி முடிக்கிறாள்.

This song portrays the prosperous cattle of Ayarpadi. The buffaloes and cows are rich in milk wrt quantity and quality. They could not bear with the weight in their breasts due to huge secretion of milk. They are giving sound in the morning so that someone will come and take milk out of them. This is told by the word "kanaitthu". The cows will give milk on seeing it's calf drinking milk from it. But the buffaloes will start to pour milk out of the breasts the moment it thinks of it's calf drinking the same. The word "ninaithu" explains it.
The buffaloes (erumai) with young calves (iLam katRu), took pity on the calves (kandRukku iRangi) and thought that it should feed them (ninaitthu). No sooner did the buffaloes thought, than the milk started to pour out (mulai vazhiyE nindru pAl sOra). This milk, floods the entire place (nanaitthu illam sEr Akkum). Oh! the sister of such a prosperous cow herd (naR chelvan thangAi), we are standing in front of your home with snow falling on our heads (pani thalai veezha nin vaasal kadai patRi). So please open the door and come soon.
Please come and sing (pAdavum nee vaai thiRavaai) the fame of the lord who punished (chetRa) the king of Lanka (then ilangai kOmAn) out of anger (sinatthinAl) and who is very pleasing to our mind (manatthukku iniyAn). Atleast from now onwards wake up (initthaan ezhundhiraai) . Why are you bound to such a long sleep (eethenna pEruRakkam). All in this village has come to know that we are standing in front of your house (anaitthu illatthaarum arindhelor empavai).
