25.
ஒருத்தி மகனாய்ப் பிறந்து ஓர் இரவில்
ஒருத்தி மகனாய் ஒளித்து வளரத்
தரிக்கிலான் ஆகித் தான் தீங்கு நினைந்த
கருத்தைப் பிழைப்பித்துக், கஞ்சன் வயிற்றில்
நெருப்பென்ன நின்ற நெடுமாலே! உன்னை
அருத்தித்து வந்தோம் பறைதருதி யாகில்
திருத்தக்க செல்வமும் சேவகமும் யாம்பாடி
வருத்தமும் தீர்ந்து மகிழ்ந்தேலோர் எம்பாவாய்.

இந்தப் பாடலில், கண்ணனின் பிறப்புப் பற்றி ஆண்டாள் பாடுகிறாள்.

மதுரையில், கம்சனின் ராஜ்ஜியத்தில் உள்ள ஒரு சிறைச்சாலையில், தேவகி - வசுதேவருக்குப் பிறந்தான். (ஒருத்தி மகனாய்ப் பிறந்து). அன்று இரவில், வசுதேவர், ஒரு கூடையில் அக்குழந்தையை, யாருக்கும் தெரியாமல் (ஒளித்து) எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, யமுனையின் மறுகரையில் உள்ள, கோகுலத்திற்கு எடுத்துச் சென்று, யசோதையின் அருகில் வைத்தார். யசோதையின் குழந்தையை சிறைக்கு எடுத்து வந்தார். கோகுலத்தில், யசோதையின் மகனாக வளர்ந்தான் கண்ணன் (ஒருத்தி மகனாய் ஒளித்து வளர).

சிறையில் உள்ள பெண் குழந்தையைக் கொல்ல கம்சன் வந்தான். அப்போது, அக்குழந்தை, கம்சனின் பிடியிலிருந்து தப்பித்து, வானை நோக்கி சென்றது. மேலும், கம்சனிடம், "உன்னைக் கொல்லப் போகும் குழந்தை, கோகுலத்தில் வளர்கிறது" என்று கூறி, அவனது அச்சத்தை மேலும் பெருக்கியது. தீங்கு செய்ய வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணத்தில் இருக்கும் கம்சனின் வயிற்றில் நெருப்பாய் நின்றான் கண்ணன்.

கம்சனுக்கு அச்சத்தை விளைவித்த கண்ணனே, உன்னிடம் நாங்கள் ஆசைக்கொண்டு வந்தோம். நீ, நாங்கள் கேட்கும் பறையைத் தந்தருளினால், உன் பிரட்டி மகிழும் வண்ணம், எங்களிடம் இருப்பனவற்றை, சமர்ப்பிக்கிறோம். உனக்கே சேவை செய்து, உன் புகழைப் பாடி எங்களது வருத்தத்தைத் (உன்னைக் காணாமல் இருந்ததினால் உண்டான வருத்தத்தை / பிறவித் துன்பத்தை) தீர்த்துக்கொண்டு மகிழ்வோடு இருப்போம்.

This song describes the birth of Sri krishna in few lines. Krishna was born to Devaki - VasudEva in the prison of KamsA's kingdom Mathura (orutthi maganaai pirandhu). Immediately after his birth, in the dark night (Or iravil), he was transported to Ayarpadi secretly (oLitthu) by VasudEva and was left with Yasodha - Nanda gopan and grew there (orutthi maganaai valara).

Kamsa killed all the elder siblings of Krishna and was about to kill the girl child (pretended eight child of Devaki -
vasudeva). But it was yOga Maya who was born to Yasodha at Ayarpadi and was brought back by Vasudeva secretly. Kamsa does not want that child to live. He could not bear the news that the eight child of Devaki was alive (tharukkillaan). He wanted to harm the child who is growing at Ayarpadi (thaan theengu ninaindha kanjan). He devised sevaral plans to kill Krishna. But all his plans were destroyed (karutthai pizhaippitthu) and Krishna stood as a fire in Kamsa's stomach, making him tensed (neruppu ena nindra nedumAl).

Oh Lord (nedumAl), we all have come to you out of our love (arutthitthu vandhOm) with a belief that you will grant us our wish (parai). If you grant us our wish (paRai tharuthi yaagil), we will offer our service (sEvagam) and our belongings (that will make your consort happy - thiru thakka selvam) by singing your fame (yaam paadi) and empty all of our sorrows (varutthamum theerndhu) attained due to separation from you and will be happy thereafter (magizhndhu).
